The Nicavangelists' troupe members receive training through Youth With A Mission and ACE & Alpha Omega Academy (Ignite). The Nicavangelists' mission is to create a bright future for Nicaraguan youth, which is achieved by training and equipping these youths with a relevant education when considering their individual talents, desires, abilities and God given life-calling. The objective is NOT to “Westernise” these precious people, but to teach them in a context that is congruent with their culture and a Biblical match for them.

YWAM (Youth With A Mission) DTS (Discipleship Training School) Leadership School for Eliezer, Mixhel Fox & Lorenzy in Madrid, Spain.

Since the beginning of The Nicavangelists troupe’s formation, we have been committed to taking our message into all the world. Even as the crisis unfolded in Nicaragua, troupe members travelled to Europe to share their hope, culture and talent, and spoke out against the genocide in Nicaragua. Europe is our next step into the world, and the time has arrived for us to go, even if it’s not as we’d hoped nor planned.

As each troupe member exited the US Embassy in Managua last year, tears began to flow. I may have looked overly insensitive as I bore a grin from ear-to-ear. Parents began to cry too. Even Shamyr, who didn’t have a “loved one” in this band of unmerry men, began to shed tears also.

I knew we couldn’t return home in this state. We needed to enter our gates with joy and singing. In the middle of the struggle, we have a plan. I gathered the mourners around me & declared, “CHEER UP, WE ARE NOT GOING TO THE USA, WE ARE GOING TO EUROPE INSTEAD!” The moment will forever be etched into my mind, as the troupe’s tears struck a sharp contrast to their giddy giggles & newly formed smile lines.

The Nicavangelists’ theme this year is STANDING UP TO GIANTS. We will travel to Europe in July to share our hope, culture & talent, but also to speak out against the evil acts facilitated by Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega.

In most instances in our target barrios, Nica-Kids leave school at too young an age and enter the workforce before they are ready. With an absence of discipleship and constructive activities, the kids turn to sexual promiscuity, drugs, alcohol (and substitutes) and crime. In getting up to no good, these kids hope to carve out a personal identity, kill the boredom which oppresses them and assist themselves and their families out of chronic poverty. Of course, the desired outcome isn’t what actually transpires. Sexual promiscuity leads to teenage parenthood. Drugs lead to addiction and poverty. Crime results in incarceration. The kids’ mischief affects the community by adding another to the downward spiral, entrapping and enslaving these beautiful people.

Well each year The Nicavangelists increase their efforts to pour out the love of God all over broken and needy communities in the world’s poorest Spanish speaking country. At Christmas time The Nicavangelists give out thousands of bicycles, toys, food hampers and other household objects, just to LOVE & BLESS mums and kids who might otherwise not know that they too can have a bright future. The Nicavangelists take these wonderful people on fun outings to the cinema and to the beach, etc. To partner with this terrific program focussed on loving those most in need, please click on the campaign on the left.
